Web Casino Online Poker Overview
Poker is hotter than it's ever been right now, and online poker has exploded in popularity since 2007. Poker appeals to people because it's fun, and because it combines the luck of the draw with the player's skill. Just about anyone can learn to play poker - you can teach an 8-year-old to play five card draw easily. But winning at poker requires good skills, great instincts, and the ability to predict how other players will play their hand.
People who love playing poker in a web casino online are from every possible walk of life, from college students to white collar professionals to housewives. Web casino online poker differs from live poker in several ways. For one thing, players are generally (but not always) more skilled. Online poker builds skills fast, because players cover many more hands in an hour than they would around an actual table. Online players are generally more aggressive, and the game online is usually "all business" rather than social.
Do not let that stop you from trying online poker, though. There are numerous places you can play for free without risking real money, and this is definitely the way to hone your skills if your goal is to try to win money playing in one of our recommended web casinos. Here is an overview of some of the most popular online poker games, including Texas Hold'em, Omaha Hold'em, and Five Card Stud. To be sure, any web casino online offers numerous other poker variations, but these are among the most popular.
For all the following poker variations, you'll need to know which hands win over which. Here is a list of poker hands from most dominant to least. In other words, a hand higher on the list beats a hand lower on the list. In terms of suits, spades carry the most value, followed by hearts, followed by diamonds, then clubs.

Texas Hold'em
Texas Hold'em took the world by storm in the early 2000s and is big in any web casino online. Each player is dealt two face-down cards. Five community cards total are dealt face-up, starting with three. Each player has to make the best possible hand from their own two cards and the three community cards. Then another community card is dealt, then the final community card is dealt. A player has 4 chances to bet.
Betting starts with two forced bets (called "blinds"). In limit hold'em, the bets and the raises from the first two rounds (before and after the dealer deals the first three community cards) have to match a minimum that's pre-specified. In the next two rounds, the bets and raises are required to be double the minimum. The first person to bet is the one to the left of the dealer and action proceeds clockwise.
After the final round of betting, if two or more players remain, there is a "showdown" where each player makes the best possible 5-card hand from his two cards and the 5 community cards. Any combination is legal, including just the 5 community cards. Every player is allowed to play the 5-cards from the table, and if this ends up being the best hand at the table, the pot is split among the ones playing it.
Omaha Hold'em
Omaha hold'em is similar to Texas hold'em. But while in Texas hold'em players can use any combination of his own cards and the community cards, with Omaha hold'em, players have to make the best hand using exactly 2 of his own cards and 3 of the 5 community cards.
Five Card Stud
Stud poker is not nearly as popular as it used to be, but for some reason, five card stud is hugely popular in Finland. The variant played by web casinos in Finland is called Soko, or Scandinavian stud. Each player gets one card face down, and one face up. The player with the lowest ranking card facing up pays the "bring-in" or beginning bet, which must meet a minimum, and betting proceeds clockwise from that player. The player with the highest ranked up-card can check.
When the first betting round is complete, each player gets another up-card, and betting starts with the player whose up-facing cards make the best hand. On this round, and every round afterward, the player who bets first may check or may bet up to the limit (assuming there is one). After the second betting round, everyone gets a third face-up-card, and another round of betting takes place. Then every player gets a fourth card face-up, and if more than one person is left after that, there is a showdown, which is rare in five card stud. In Soko, there are two extra hands: a four-card flush, and a four-card straight.
