Card Counting

Though many people believe otherwise, card counting without using a device (other than the human brain) is legal in the US. However, in Las Vegas, casinos are private property, and the owner can decide who can enter, and so they can ban card counters and share information with other casinos on suspected card counters. Of course, if you’re playing on a web casino, there’s no big beefy guy standing over your shoulder ready to throw you out, but there are definite measures that online casinos take to keep the house advantage over card counters.
